2013 update

Friends,

It's been a long while. Almost a year. Don't worry, there is plenty of photos that I have taken over the last year, but have neglected to post. Mostly because 2013 started off busy.

Let's recap. November 29, 2012: I was on my way home from work at 4am when I almost hit a small dog while driving through my neighborhood. She looked like a deer in the headlights as I swerved to avoid her in the middle of the road. I opened the door and in hopped a 10lb pup with an underbite and a snaggletooth. Love at first site.

She was such a good dog that I assumed someone in my neighborhood was missing her terribly. After a few weeks of posting signs on the street and adds on various webpages, no answer. Needless to day, by week 3 even my dad was in love with her. Lucy.

Over the next month, Lucy seemed to be gaining weight... noticeably. Early January, I took her to the vet to get her shots and possibly spayed. To which she replied, dogs who are pregnant cannot have their shots. She told me I had 2 weeks.

I watched more YouTube videos of dogs giving birth than I would like to admit. I read multiple books and articles about how to be a doggy midwife. Nothing could actually prepare me for January 25.

I had been working night shifts, so I was up late. Lucy was acting weird. Digging in my pillows, crying, and eating like crazy. In the back of my head I thought... maybe. But I just continued watching reruns of The Office. All of the sudden she started flipping out. Contractions.

Five minutes later, all those YouTube videos paid off. Libbie was born first. Tiny with a brindle coat. Thirty minutes later, Duke was born. Red coat, just like Lucy, but easily twice the size of Libbie. Twenty minutes later, Addie. Short stubby legs, black coat. All healthy, all irresistibly adorable.

The next 2 weeks were crazy and sleepless and so worth it. My parents were there helping me the whole way and there is no way I could ever have done it without them! I get my love for animals from my parents, but I don't think they every saw this coming. I can only imagine what my kids will talk me into allowing. I'm sure I will be just as supportive as them!

Now, 21 weeks later, the puppies are happy and healthy. I can't imagine my life without them! BUT, we are still looking for a home for Duke. So if you are interested, or know someone who is, let me know! :)

Be blessed!

Aggieland

I haven't been back to Aggieland since I graduated in December. What a great reunion it was! We ate at Blue Baker (my favorite deli) and walked around campus for a few hours. I really just wanted to get some pictures with my new wide angle lens that I couldn't get while I was in school. The rest of the weekend I watched some baseball and enjoyed food from my favorite local places. I sure do miss College Station. Until next time, enjoy these shots of my favorite spots on campus.

Be blessed!
